The Arnprior Community Choir has always had a goal of providing entertainment throughout the local area through presentations of a variety of music to organizations and groups; hiring young emerging soloists originally from the Ottawa Valley who are developing their musical careers; and providing choral music that both challenges and entertains its membership in an enthusiastic and uplifting rehearsal. Please join us for our 26th season in making a joyous sound!
Lisa Webber, Musical Director
About the Arnprior Community Choir
A little history . . . The Arnprior Community Choir (ACC) was first established in 1991 as a course within the night school Continuing Education program at the Arnprior District High School. This support allowed the community choir to create a “home” in which to develop and flourish as a musical ensemble. Founded by the current musical director, Lisa Webber, the choir quickly doubled, then tripled in membership, and has become a mainstay in the cultural arts community scene.
Today's ACC . . . The size of the choir now varies from 65 to 80 members, both men and women, with ages ranging from 14 to 82! Each year, the choir rehearses for three concerts, one in December and two in the following year (March and May).
Choir members meet Tuesday nights at the Arnprior Legion at 49 Daniel Street in Arnprior from 7:30 to 9:30 to rehearse.
The 2017-18 session will be the 27th year for the ACC.
Registration: Registration for the fall session of 2017 will take place on September 12th at 7:30 pm and September 19th at 7:30 pm.
Cost of membership: $110.00 for both fall and winter/spring sessions, paid in full in September; $60.00 for just one session. You may pay with cash or a cheque made out to the "Arnprior Community Choir".
New members: New members are always welcome -- whether Soprano, Alto, Tenor, or Bass. You are not required to audition, and no previous experience is needed. Although it would be great if you can read music, it’s not essential. What we most look for from our members is a love of singing and a commitment to attend each rehearsal session and concert.
Arnprior's 150 Events Passport for Canada's 150th Celebrations
For Canada’s 150th celebrations, the Town of Arnprior will be
promoting 150 events to be held throughout 2017 in the Town of Arnprior. All 150 events will be listed in a passport
that residents and visitors will obtain at the beginning of the year, with the goal of attending as many events as possible throughout 2017. The ACC's two 2017 concerts in May (Celebrate the Classics) and December (Sing Noel) will be part of this passport. For more information, visit http://arnprior.ca/live/calendar/150events/.
